Information sessions to focus on proposed service contract with the Public Service Alliance of Canada 

Service contract with the PSAC

The MUNACA Executive will be asking for authorization of the membership to sign a service contract with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). This item will be placed on the agenda of the upcoming

Annual Meeting of the General Assembly, scheduled for May 26, 2010 (proposed agenda to be sent soon).  Our intention is that the details and ramifications of such an agreement be described and discussed in full at this meeting.  

Please note that the Service Agreement is not equivalent to affiliation, and thus MUNACA will remain as it is but will be able to benefit from the service that the PSAC provides.  Our dues will remain the same at least until the upcoming negotiations with McGill are concluded.  After the conclusion of the Service Agreement, the membership will decide if it wishes to join the PSAC.  It is the Executive's intention, upon a successful conclusion of the Service Agreement, to recommend that we join the PSAC. However it will be the membership, through the General Assembly, that will decide the issue.

Local meetings

The Executive has scheduled various local meetings around campus.  The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the benefits we see with the proposed service contract.  We also wish to obtain members' concerns and ideas regarding the upcoming negotiations with McGill.  

Although all these issues will be brought to the annual meeting, we find it extremely beneficial for both ourselves and the individual members to discuss them in the relaxed setting of a small local meeting. Please consider joining us and bring your questions and concerns!
